Our Story
The Outdoor Opportunity Initiative was founded in memory of our friend, George. George loved nothing more than being outdoors. Whether he was hiking, camping, or simply spending time in nature with friends, the outdoors was where he was happiest.
If there was one place George was truly happy, it was outside. Whether he was hiking, camping, exploring somewhere new, or simply enjoying the fresh air with friends, the outdoors was where he felt most alive. He had a genuine appreciation for nature, adventure, and the freedom that came with both. Losing George left a space that can never be filled. We miss his friendship, his empathy, and his infectious sense of humour, but we wanted to create something that reflected who he was and the things he loved most.
That's why we created the Outdoor Opportunity Initiative. It is George's legacy. We believe every young person should have the opportunity to experience the confidence, friendships, and sense of adventure that the outdoors can inspire, regardless of their financial circumstances. Every young person who discovers a love for the outdoors, builds confidence, or creates lifelong memories through the opportunities this initiative provides is a reminder of the kind of person George was—a wonderful friend, deeply loved and deeply missed, whose spirit lives on in every adventure this initiative helps make possible.
